A Food Stabilizer is a food additive which helps to stabilize food ingredient structure. Typical uses include preventing sedimentation of solid particles in beverages such as chocolate milk, preventing oil, water emulsions from separating in products such as salad dressing; preventing ice crystals from forming in frozen food such as ice cream; and preventing fruit from settling in products such as jam, yogurt and jellies.

A colloid is a mixture in which one substance of microscopically dispersed insoluble or soluble particles is suspended throughout another substance.

Myths and Misconceptions

MYTH: Products without stabilizers are healthier and safer for us. HOAX: Food Stabilizer is made of unhealthy chemicals.

FACT: Most stabilizers are made and derived from natural and healthy plant-base ingredients. However, there are some assumption that stabilizers are chemicals to be avoided. Some products are marketed as free from stabilizers as if it makes the products healthier, unknowingly these products could have been healthier while taste better if matched with the right stabilizers.
